Department of Economics

The Department of Economics had its humble beginning in 1965 with the beginning of the college itself.  Later in 1965 the College started its BA and the department was upgraded as P.G Department in 1984 .The BA and MA Programme of the college earned a wide acclaim in a short span of time. The Department of Economics aims at improving the quality of human capital of the region. By the introduction of PG course, a good share of domestic demand for skilled labour is met by the Department. It functions for remedying the educational.backwardness of the region, especially of the minority community. It also aims at helping the economic development of the region by actively participating in the studies of local economic problems. The School also expanded by conducting national and international seminars and workshops and various extension.From2022 onwards the department sent their PG students for internship programme in various prestigious institutions like Kudumbasree.
