THE EXAMINATION SYSTEM

    • MES Mampad College is a leading institution in Malappuram district of Kerala which has been affiliated to University of Calicut and conferred with status of autonomy in the year of 2015.Six years prior to the status of autonomy, it was in 2009, this institution opted Choice Based Credit semester System (CCSS) on the guidelines given by the University of Calicut and accordingly the courses were restructured with the following objectives:
    •  →To provide flexibility in the choice of courses.
    •  →To channelize the subject orientation learning towards, skill orientation or research.
    •  →To facilitate holistic development of the students.
    •  →To inculcate awareness of the need for eco- friendliness and community focus.
    • The College has introduced the Outcome Based Education (OBE) frame work from the academic year 2019-20 onwards with the revision of syllabi by the concerned Board of Studies for all programmes. The courses are designed and teaching pedagogy is structured to achieve the outcomes by students.
    • To make the examination system more authenticate and credible, the institution follows Continuous Internal Assessment and End Semester Examination.
    • The evaluation of a student in a particular course is based on his/her performance in both Continuous Internal Assessment (CIA) and End Semester Examination (ESE).The ratio of CIA: ESE marks was 1:4.
    • The CIA component comprises of Class tests, Assignments / Seminars, Model Examination and Attendance. UG students are required to obtain 35% in End Semester Examinations and 40% for PG students to be declared as graduate.
    • The evaluation pattern includes Blooms Taxonomy. Credits are allotted for Projects, Internships, audit courses and open courses.
    • ATTENDANCE  RULES

      (A) FOR UG PROGRAMMES

      Attendance: A student shall be permitted to appear for the semester examination, only if he/she secures not less than 75% attendance in each semester. Attendance shall be maintained by the Department concerned.Condonation of shortage of attendance to a maximum of 10% in the case of single condonation and 20% in the case of double condonation in a semester shall be granted by University remitting the required fee. Benefits of attendance may be granted to students who attend the approved activities of the college/university with the prior concurrence of the Head of the institution. Participation in such activities may be treated as presence in lieu of their absence on production of participation/attendance certificate (within two weeks) in curricular/extracurricular activities (maximum 9 days in a semester). Students can avail of condonation of shortage of attendance in a maximum of four semesters during the entire programme (Either four single condonations or one double condonation and two single condonations during the entire programme). If a student fails to get 65% attendance, he/she can move to the next semester only if he/she acquires 50% attendance. In that case, a provisional registration is needed. Such students can appear for supplementary examination for such semesters after the completion of the programme. Less than 50% attendance requires Readmission Readmission is permitted only once during the entire programme.

(B)FOR PG PROGRAMMES

The students admitted in the PG programmes in affiliated colleges shall be required to attend at least 75 percent of the total number of classes (theory/practical) held during each semester. The students having less than prescribed percentage of attendance shall not be allowed to appear for the University examination.Condonation of shortage of attendance for a maximum of 9 days (10% of the working days in a semester) in the case of single condonation and 18 days (20% of the working days in a semester) in the case of double condonation in a semester subject to a maximum of two times (for single condonation only) during the whole period of Post Graduate programme may be granted by the University as per the existing procedures. In the case of double condonation, only one condonation shall be allowed during the entire programme. Benefit of condonation of attendance will be granted to the students on health grounds, for participating in University Union activities, meeting of the University bodies /Govt. bodies and participation in other extracurricular activities on production of genuine supporting documents, with the recommendation of the Head of the Department concerned.

END SEMESTER EXAMINATIONS

The date of the commencement of the End Semester Examinations is printed in the College Calendar. The detailed Time Table for regular and supplementary examinations will be published in the College website three weeks before the commencement of the examinations. A copy of the time table will be displayed on the notice board also.

EXAMINATION FEE PAYMENT

The Students are required to pay the Examination Fee every semester one month before the End Semester Examination by online mode. The fee challan will be generated automatically. After payment, receipt is available and payment confirmation message is sent via SMS and  e-mail.

ONLINE HALL TICKET

Hall tickets are generated online. Hall tickets can be downloaded from the College website one week before examination by providing their register numbers and date of birth. All instructions are given in detail in the Hall ticket. The students are instructed to get the countersign in hall ticket from respective departments before the examination.

Rules and Regulations for Examinations:

→Students shall enter the examination hall 15 minutes prior to the commencement of examination.

During the distribution of question papers, no one should enter the hall or room.

No one can enter the hall 30 minutes after the commencement of test or examination.

No student can receive the question paper before taking her assigned seat in the hall or room.

Students are prohibited from bringing / carrying into the Examination Hall any book or portion of a book, manuscript or any matter of any description.

Any communication with another is subject to severe punishment.

No paper other than the question papers should be taken out of the Examination Hall.

Every student is advised to keep the ID card, hall ticket and present it for appearing in Regular and supplementary Examination.

Uniform is mandatory for UG students to appear for examination including Wednesday.

RESULT PUBLICATION

The result statistics are submitted in the pass board for approving the moderation marks and the result will be published immediately in the College website

 REVALUATION / IMPROVEMENT

Facility of revaluation, retotaling, improvement and photocopies of answer booklet on request make the evaluation process transparent.

The number of days to apply for revaluation is 7 working days commencing from the day after publication of results.

The last date for applying for a photocopy of the answer scripts is 7 working days from the date of publication of results.

Students can attend the improvement examinations only with the very next succeeding batch after the successful completion of the semester concerned.

The students can improve a maximum of two courses in a particular semester.

Improvement and supplementary examinations cannot be done simultaneously.

Grace marks

Students can apply for the year wise grace mark distribution after the notification from controller office.

It is mandatory to submit the hard copy of the applications along the supporting documents which are duly signed by Faculty coordinator.

As per the claim of student and after the verification of submitted documents, the total grace mark per year will be published in student account of linways and they will be provided with the provision of disbursing the total marks as per the existing rules of University of Calicut to various courses.

Once the mark is added and finalised to any particular course, it cannot be edited under any circumstances.

Students are strictly instructed to read the university regulations applicable to your year of admission and adhered to the same during the grace mark entry.

MALPRACTICE

The College views examination malpractice of any kind very seriously. Any student found to be directly or indirectly involved in malpractice during examinations will be subject to substantial penalties, including being debarred from subsequent appearances. If malpractice is detected during the Semester Examination, the following steps shall be taken:

The Committee incharge will analyse the malpractice committed and take necessary action.

If the student is found guilty, “Zero” marks will be given for the concerned paper in which the student was found to have committed malpractice during that Semester.

The guilty student will be fined as per the regulations of Governing council of the college.

The students are informed to pay the fine amount within 15 days after the Exam committee decision.

MAXIMUM PERIOD FOR COMPLETION OF THE PROGRAMS TO QUALIFY FOR A DEGREE FOR STUDENTS ADMITTED IN 2019 ONWARDS.

As per the University norms:

A student in UG who registered for the course shall successfully complete the programme within 6 years from the year of first registration. If not, such candidate has to cancel the existing registration and join afresh as a new candidate.A student in PG who registered for the course shall successfully complete the programme within 4 years from the year of first registration.
