Department of Zoology

The Department of Zoology was established in 1965 and completed 57 years of incalculable service in the implementation of socially and educationally backward people of Eranad. The B Sc course was started in the year 1970 M Sc course was started in 1978 and the PhD programs were initiated in 2014. Presently, the Department is sculled by Dr K.S Anoop Das. Many seminars, workshops, extracurricular and other extension activities are conducted by the department. The Dept. has a team of faculty members whose sincere and devoted efforts constantly encourage moulding the personality of the students and the overall development of the dept. Four of the faculty members are PhD holders and all of them have taken up projects funded by various national (University Grants Commission, DST-SERB Govt of India) and international agencies (Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund, USA). The faculties have attended and presented their research findings on international platforms such as the International ornithological conference (Germany), the British Ornithologists Union’s Conference (United Kingdom) and the USA.
